Apple Will Intro iPhone 8 Sept 2017 but Actual Release Date Not Happening until Oct or Nov – Here’s Why

Apple will be unable to ship out the iPhone 8 immediately after the device's expected September 2017 unveiling. The actual release date will not happen until October or November this year, the latest supply chain rumors said.

Specifically for the iPhone 8, which is believed to be introduced alongside the iPhone 7S and 7S Plus, Apple manufacturing partners have been bogged down by production issues that could push back the flagship's commercial debut. "Technical issues related to the lamination process of curved OLED panels, and the adoption of a 3D sensing system may cause the delay of the new iPhone devices," DigiTimes reported.

As a result, it's highly likely that "Apple may delay the launch of its next-generation iPhone to October or even November, instead of September as usual," the Taiwan-based business publication added on its report.

The latest report echoes the earlier claim issued by well-known Apple watcher Ming-chi Kuo of KGI Securities - that the iPhone 8 mass production will only commence September this year and the device availability will therefore be affected.

Kuo said OLED and 3D camera system that will be part of the next iPhone push were proving problematic for Apple contractors that a delay in production activities has become inevitable. The analyst, according to iDownloadBlog.com, has forecasted that if the iPhone 8 will only start assembly on September then the commercial debut will have to be delayed.

The KGI analyst did not provide a timeframe on when the iPhone 8 unboxing will happen but the October or November outing offered by the DigiTimes report seems to make sense. The October availability, in fact, is likely a conservative estimate as it looks like that November is a more realistic release schedule if indeed Apple will only commence production of the model a month earlier.

Kuo said Apple will unpack the iPhone 8 (also known as iPhone X or iPhone Edition) with the sequels to the 2016 iOS flagship models that likely will be called iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. The devices are to be revealed in September and selling will follow in the immediate weeks to follow.
