Climate change
For other people, it might be a little bit confusing to see the connection between women's right and the earth's greatest battle, the climate change.
For the Mayor of Durban, South Africa, Zandile Gumede, it is really meant for each other. Gumede, tagged as the first female mayor in their place, admitted that her primary focus is to ease everyone's worry with their region's current climate status. She also reiterated that she would let women in her place to come and help in finding out the solution.

According to New York Times, Zandile Gumede has been very responsible when it comes to this kind of situation. She grew up witnessing the drastic change that had happened with our environment, making her earn a spot in Nelson Mandela's African National Congress.
Moreover, reports reiterated that Gumede admits women's vulnerability to the lasting effect of climate change. She also told everyone that these women are less privileged to be informed with regards to environmental sustainability, this is in comparison with the perks that scientists and committee representatives have. Durban, the place of Gumede's leadership, is undergoing rough times right now as they are experiencing pollution, droughts, industrialization and contaminated waterways. In an interview made with the mayor, she told:
"Climate change is a daily issue for us,"
"And women must be a part and parcel of everything."
Sources also told that women are more affected with our environment's situation as they continue to collect water and food to cook meals. They are also vulnerable to the effects of extreme weather as they experience limited water resources and soil problems. Also, studies showed that women make up a large portion of the agricultural work forces for most nations nowadays.
Meanwhile, Unwomen reported that there would be annual Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change from November 17-18. This is with regards to the agreements that commits to provide gender equality responsibilities when it comes to climate change. This meeting would also give a chance to collaborate with more people to fight against climate change and achieve sustainable development.
