Qatar Airplane
Qatar Airways announced recently that it will launch the world's longest non-stop flight, which would require passengers to stay on board the large aircraft for about 18.5 hours. The jet airplane's record-breaking direct flight will include a route between Qatar's capital city Doha and Auckland, New Zealand.

Qatar will begin the world-breaking flight in coming months. The airline will use its Boeing 777-200LR to cover the 9,034-mile (14,539-kilmoeter) distance, according to Digital Trends.
Currently the longest non-stop flight is Qantas' service from Dallas to Sydney. It is a 17-hour flight that covers 8,578 miles (13,805 kilometers).
However, that record will soon be broken by the Emirates airline. On February 1, Monday it will launch a new service from Dubai to Panama City, which will cover a distance of 8,590 miles (13,824 kilometers) and take about 17.5 hours.
A fully-booked flight of Qatar's all-time longest trip will include 258 other passengers for three-quarters of a day. It provides a lot of time to watch inflight movies, do some duty free shopping, and enjoy several airline meals and free drinks.
Qatar Airways also has plans to launch the world's second-longest aircraft flight. It would be achieved via a route from Doha to Santiago, Chile, according to Yahoo.
Qatar CEO Akbar Al Baker announced the new record-breaking flight in a Bloomberg Business interview. It will give the company bragging rights among global airlines.
In recent years Qatar Airways has had steady growth. The airline and Gulf region rival Etihad Airways have made the area a transfer hub for travelers going from the United States to Asia or Europe.
Singapore Airlines could break Qatar Airway's new world record in a couple of years. In 2018 the airline will relaunch its 19-hour flight to Newark, New Jersey.
The Boeing 777 is a twin-engine jet aircraft whose first flight was in June 1994. It is the world's biggest twinjet and has a capacity ranging from around 315 to 450 passengers.
Qatar Airways is a government-owned airline that was founded in 1993. The company has over 140 international destinations throughout the world and a fleet of over 150 airplanes. In 2014 the company transferred its business operations to Doha International Airport.
