The next iPhone release from Apple, bannered by the radically redesigned iPhone 8, is sure to pull in no less than 70 million units of sale in the last quarter of 2017. That is if existing iPhone users, specifically those using the iPhone 6 and earlier models, would make the immediate jump following the hotly anticipated unboxing.

The iPhone 8 and the iPhone 7S series will prove a surefire hit not only of the fresh features and design improvements packed with the handsets. According to BGR, the chance is high that existing iPhone users will make the upgrade move following the next iPhone rollout.
Provided the three new iPhones will be compelling enough, it will be a huge upgrade cycle for the tech giant in the United States alone as BGR reported that around 70 million current iPhone users are estimated to ditch their aging devices and move on to Apple's latest offerings. The report made use of the data recently issued by comScore.
"These 70 million collectively represent a huge base of users who are ripe for an upgrade cycle later this year when the iPhone 8 is expected to be released," per the comScore report.
Around 50 million iPhone 6 users are projected to move up to any of the iPhone 8 and 7S series, and another 20 million upgrades will come from users still on the iPhone 5 and earlier models.
So factoring in these upgrade buys plus the users that will get the iPhone for the first time, it's safe to assume that Apple will haul in total sales north of 70 million and up at the close of 2017.
However, the comScore estimate could potentially be impacted on by the duo of the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy Note 8 from Samsung. In a recent note by Ming-chi Kuo of KGI Securities, the Android flagships will attract buyers of up to 70 million. Kuo's report, picked by 9to5Google, indicated that the GS8 series will sell up to 55 million units by the end of year. The Note 8, on the other hand, could be grabbed by up to 15 million new buyers following the device's launch.
Kuo said the Galaxy S8's biggest selling point is the all-screen feature that Samsung dubbed as Infinity Display. The Galaxy Note 8 will draw in significant buys thanks to a dual camera setup that Kuo said will overwhelm the competition.
The Galaxy S8 global deployment has commenced and Samsung is expected to provide the Note 8 starting September this year. Meanwhile the next iPhone release date is happening September 2017 but the iPhone 8 rollout is rumored to be delayed until November or December.
