Initial reports indicate the handheld will unpack in Black and Blue in North America. In Japan, buyers will get to pick between White and Gold finish, the report said.
In a related report, WCCFTech said the 2DS XL will be lighter than the 3DS XL but the latter will extend the same gaming punch to the former. Among the features included is NFC connectivity.
"New Nintendo 2DS XL sports a beautiful clamshell design and offers a great balance between price and performance," the same report quoted the company's statement as saying.
As for the Hey Pikmin and Miitopia, Nintendo described the games as having the mix-elements role-playing, mission and series of puzzles. As mentioned, the new titles can be played on both the 2DS XL and 3DS XL.
And rumored to later join Nintendo's handheld line is the Switch Mini that is tipped to appeal more on youngsters. Reports said the Switch Mini will serve as spinoff of the hybrid Nintendo Switch console but the former will be supposedly limited on 3DS-like functionalities.
