One of the most outstanding features of "Horizon Zero Dawn" are the Machines; robots that wander around. The robots exhibit animal-like abilities, behaviors, and movements. The developers of the game have finally shed some light on how these interesting robots were developed.
According to Gamasutra, Guerilla Games has admitted that the process of designing the Machines was tedious. The team even asked for guidance from Holland universities.

"Skeletons are kind of s***, because they're on the inside, surrounded by very soft tissue. And it's a single point of failure -- if your leg breaks, you're pretty much dead as an animal," Studio Director Jan-Bart said.
The experts came up with an idea of enhancing the exoskeletons to look just like lobsters.
"If you look at some of our robot designs, you can see the outside has sort of a metal framework, and there is soft tissue on the insides, which also creates a convenient soft spot for arrows to be pumped into."
The team sought to create the Machine to move like an animal but also act mechanically to keep the robotic feels in the game.
Meanwhile, Metro revealed that "Horizon Zero Dawn" is topping UK game charts. Along with "Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Wildlands" (PS4 and XO), and "Grand Theft Auto V" (PS4 and Xo), the game has been one of the most popular this year.
