If new reports are anything to go by, future iPhones will have wireless charging.
Recently, a patent was granted to the Cupertino-based Apple for a system equipped to use the wireless signals given off by routers to charge electronic devices.
The system will depend on the same frequencies that are currently used to transfer data OTA to give devices a continuous source of power, according to Apple Insider.

The design requires routers with specialized circuitry and antennae systems that could enhance the wireless signal with additional output power that will then be used by a receiver in the Apple device and converted to more juice for the battery.
The antennae could make use of beamforming or beam steering, a technology used to precisely direct wireless signals to connected devices. In 2015, scientists at the University of Washington tested a Wi-Fi-powered charging method successfully.
There are speculations that the new iPhone 8 smartphone will utilize that setup of close range wireless charging using the Qi standard.
It is said that the upcoming smartphone will boast of some awesome new technology, but will ditch some well-known features.
It is believed that the software giant Apple will launch the iPhone 8 smartphone in September this year. In 2016, the iPhone 7 smartphone was released on September 16. Therefore, the same mid-September date appears most likely.
However, reports suggest that technical issues mean that the Apple smartphone can be delayed by weeks due to technical problems with the anticipated 3D camera and curved screen.
Rumor has it that delays in the phone's new fingerprint sensor mean that the launch of the device could be delayed until October at the earliest, according to BGR.
The iPhone 7, iPhone 6S, iPhone 6, iPhone 5S and iPhone 5 were all released in September of consecutive years.
Please note that the tech company has not disclosed any information about the new smartphone.
