In addition, even Longroom has made a report that the droids in the Lucas sci-fi universe have advanced capabilities like independence and intelligence similar of today's hi-tech bots. Although, there are still robots that are limited by their artificial intelligence, but there are those that can operate on higher functions even in the absence of human command.
It cannot be denied that robotics has provided humankind with noteworthy benefits. Today multi-disciplinary research are undertaken to further advance artificial intelligence. The direction of researchers is towards the development of more complex bots. Hence, having "Star Wars" R2-D2 may not be far from reality, it is present now at various levels and acceptance.
Meanwhile, many researchers are trying to develop artificial intelligence (AI) that can handle more complex problems. At the same time, it is also gearing up in adapting to different environments. However, one thing is sure, the world is still a long way from having a robot with the same level of intelligence as R2-D2.
