Overwatch Loot Box
As China implemented its new regulation when it comes to disclosure of probabilities of the loot systems that game developers offers, Blizzard has finally revealed those that belong to "Overwatch."
The new Chinese regulations have been in force since the start of this month. With this development, game makers are obliged to reveal the "probabilities working behind the scenes."

As explained, the ones affected by this Chinese mandate are those offering games with "random loot systems" wherein upgrades or certain functionalities are made available in exchange of money. This is not only true to "Overwatch," since this is also how "Dota 2" and "League of Legends" work.
Blizzard, which is said to be one of the major companies that immediately responded to the Chinese authorities' regulations, named the "Overwatch" loot box probabilities in Mandarin. The official announcement shared that each loot box "always" contains at least one Rare (blue) item.
It was further revealed that players get an Epic (purple) item every 5.5 loot boxes and a Legendary (orange) item every 13.5 loot boxes, on the average.
The report emphasized, though, that there is no guarantee that the content of loot boxes offered in China are the same with those in other countries. So far, it is only China which has demanded for the disclosure of loot box probabilities.
Kotaku's Nathan Grayson admitted that amid Blizzard's disclosure of the "Overwatch" loot box, he is "still frustrated by loot boxes as a general concept," even if more purple and orange items would be dropping.
"They're cheap, often unsatisfying casino thrills sloppily spread atop games with otherwise rewarding mechanics, and odds don't tell the full story when, say, you get multiple repeats of skins you already have," he wrote.
Commenting on the article about Blizzard's "Overwatch" loot box, user LostMyBurner said, "The odds are fine. Or rather, they would be fine if duplicates weren't a thing, since the gold value you receive for a duplicate is a fraction of what they cost to purchase."
