In the latest update released for Apple App Store, in-game items in “Pokemon GO” have received a price hike. The change of prices, however, was a decision by Apple and not by Niantic. Fortunately, this is not a worldwide update and only increases the price by five percent.
Apple's latest update affects the Eurozone including Bulgaria, France, Slovakia, Estonia and Mexico while Taiwan is the only country in Asia affected. The price change for European countries will increase €0.99 app transactions to €1.99 while Taiwan will see a five percent VAT rate inclusion. The changes are said to have been caused by the difference in foreign exchange rates.

There are reports that Android has matched the changes iOS made but that has not been confirmed yet. For iOS users with an automatic renewable subscription, the price hike should not worry them as their transaction is not affected by the update. Niantic is yet to comment on the new issues, but loyal gamers are hoping that some adjustments would be made for the benefit of players.
As of now, players are not pleased with the news. It can be remembered that iOS increased the price for UK users by 25 percent due to Brexit. Players were very disappointed with the changes that time, saying it was unfair and they felt as if they are being punished for their country and currency.
“Pokemon GO” is one of the top-selling apps on iOS and Android today so it is expected that millions of players will be affected by this changes. Niantic recently announced the upcoming release of some highly requested game features which could result in higher profits for the game.
