Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi is getting ready to invade the North American market.
The company valued at $45 billion has disclosed its plans to launch the Redmi Note 4 smartphone in Mexico. The phone will be available at Coppel, Best Buy, and Sam's Club at the end of May.

The smartphone will also be available online through Amazon, Soriana, Elektra, as well as Wallmart. Following the release of the Redmi Note 4 phablet for 5,499 MXN ($287), Xiaomi intends to present the smaller-sized Redmi 4X for only 3,999 MXN ($209).
Xiaomi used to sell phones in Mexico through associates. However, the company appears to now want to establish a foothold in the country.
Aside from the devices, Xiaomi will also bring its Mi Community app to the country. This is a platform for the community of Xiaomi's users. The Android app lets fans get connected with the firm and get updates about newest launches and promos.
China has been Xiaomi's main market. The company had tried to branch into Latin America via Brazil, where Hugo Barra. However, its plans did not work well. Despite that defeat, Xiaomi appears to be ardent to grow in the region.
Donovan Sung, Xiaomi's director of product management and marketing, noted that Mexico is indeed a significant market for the company and would serve as their starting point to reach the rest of Latin America.
There is no information about the company's launch date in the U.S. yet. But, Wang Xiang, Xiaomi head of global strategy, revealed to CNET that he trusts Xiaomi phones will be traded in the U.S. by 2019.
Although Xiaomi is well established in China, it is under pressure from competitors such as Huawei, Oppo, and Vivo. Thus, it is important for the company to expand to other regions.
