Meanwhile, according to the official Developers Blog, the latest developer preview has made major adjustments to the user interface and the system to offer more fluid experience to users.

The picture-in-picture feature is one of the highlights on Android O Developers Preview 2; it lets the user to simultaneously view two screens. This is like an app within an app that operates separately than split-screens. For instance, this can be used to watch a video while working in other apps, or while replying to a text message.

The additional features of Android O are outlined by Dave Burke, VP of Engineering. These features include Autofill with Google, TensorFlow Lite, Android TV home screen, and notification dots with more functions. The Smart Text Selection, on the other hand, improves the copy/paste use by identifying the selection; it could be a phone number or email address.

The Android O has done a lot of system optimizations, as well as limits placed on background applications. All of these improvements are said to give customers more fluid experience than before.

Currently, it is still unknown when the Android O will arrive, though some users expect that some of its latest features will be available on Chromebook first, and then on smartphones.

However, the OS' Senior Director of Product Management, Kan Liu, said that only the essential feature of the operating system will probably go live. That means all of the features of Android O will remain to be unknown until its official launch.
