"Monster Hunter 5" might make its debut on Sony's current gen console, PS4, if recent rumors are anything to go by. The game is said to continue to support an online multiplayer and cross-play between platforms.

Previous installments of the series were released on 3DS and Wii U but now, rumors swirl online that "Monster Hunter 5" will likely hit PS4. This is not the first as it was rumored in the past but there is no official word to confirm it until now.

It is nown known to the public that Sony and Capcom have entered into a partnership deal. This has spewed speculations that the next title in the Monster Hunter universe is in development for PS4.

As for the release date, it is expected that "Monster Hunter 5" release date will fall within 2018. Based on the past titles, it is also likely that the new game will support online multiplayer as well as 3DS and a Cross-Play support to players on both platforms.

In related news, Capcom has recently confirmed that "Monster Hunter XX, which is pronounced as "double-cross" will be launched to Nintendo's newest console, Switch. However, it is coming yet to Japanese players, IGN reported. 

This news was announced via Capcom's official Japanese site. It further said that additional details on the game's Switch version of the 3DS title will be revealed at the Monster Hunter Championship event on May 27.

It is not yet confirmed whether "Monster Hunter XX" Switch version will be released outside of Japan. The game is an expanded version of "Monster Hunter Generations" that was out in the United States and other western regions last year.  

The Monster Hunter series has been well-received by fans on Nintendo's portable platforms. So, the possible release of "Monster Hunter 5" to PS4 will likely introduce a host of new changes for the gamers.
