Intel used Computex 2017 as means of introducing their latest Intel Core X series championed by Intel Core i9. The upcoming release of such processor will signal the start of CPU wars between Intel and AMD's Ryzen Threadripper.

Intel's new flagship product appeals mainly to high-end desktop users. The said device is expected to increase gaming, video editing performances, other heavy duty tasks.

The Core i9 would be the successor or the latest upgrade to previously released Core series, the Core i3, i5, and i7. On the marketing end, the Core i9 serves as Intel's response to AMD's recently revealed Ryzen Threadripper.

The Core i9 is said to include a powerful 18-core model, in addition to 10-, 12-, 14- and 16-core versions, according to CNET. And as means of comparison, the AMD Threadripper is expected to sport a 16-core CPU as the top end. While there is still no confirmation, it is also believed that a 14, 12, and 10-core versions will also be available.

Another interesting fact about the Intel Core X is that its chips will include updated Turbo Boost 3.0. This will allow the processors to momentarily augment their performance for short bursts without overheating.

As of the current writing, a leaked benchmark test suggests that Intel Core i9-7900X has it a record breaking overclock speed. The Core i9-7900X managed to display an outstanding speed of 5.7GHz, setting a new Cinebench record.

It seems like the display of power and speed by Intel is more than enough to overthrow the hype concerning the latest AMD Ryzen chip. However, skeptics do believe that the price point of each device could make or break the deal.

For those consumers wanting only a slight lift of performance for their PC, a cheaper product will do. However, for those who wanted to experience the optimum gaming and multimedia processing performance, the price will somehow matter less.

That being said, it is estimated that Intel's latest Core X models will be within a $1,999 price range. On the other hand, AMD's Threadripper will likely be within the half range of the aforementioned price.
