Apart from the effects of addiction itself, the excessive time spent on the computer alone has its own negative effects. One of the known impacts is the restructure of the matter that composes the brain, according to Bustle.
Too much computer screen exposure may result in the shrinkage of the gray matter. Aside from that, the brain's white matter's ability to communicate is also being affected.
In a 2008 study, it was discovered that too much time spent on-screen might lead to a Metabolic Syndrome. Such syndrome is also connected with diabetes, obesity and high blood pressure, due to the sedentary lifestyle.
Lastly, one of the most common effects of both computer addiction and excessive use of the internet is the eye damage. Needless to say that the blue light coming from the screen of any gadgets affects the retina of the eye, and would often cause eye strain.
