Amid silence around the development of "Resident Evil 2" Remake, latest news indicates that the game's release date is happening soon. Voice Matt Mercer has confirmed that he won't reprise his role in the game as Leon S. Kennedy.
In his latest interview, Kobayashi teased fans an exciting update regarding the development progress of "Resident Evil 2" Remake. He said that the highly anticipated game is still inbound, and will be launched sooner than fans have expected.

He mentioned this good news while talking to Collider about the CGI Resident Evil film, "Resident Evil: Vendetta". "The only thing I can tell you is about something that's already out in the public," Kobayashi said. "Resident Evil 2, a remade version of the game, will be out from Capcom soon."
While "soon" may not be as good as firm release date, it tells fans that they could be hearing something about the game in the near future. Seasoned RE gamers can recall that the original "Resident Evil 2" title was first launched on PlayStation in 1998.
In more news, voice actor Matt Mercer has announced on his official Twitter account that he will not return for his role as Leon S. Kennedy, following Capcom's decision not to employ non-union actors for the title. Last week, voice actress Alyson Court also confirmed that she will not be back in "Resident Evil 2" Remake as Claire.
Capcom had remade the first RE game on the GameCube in 2000 and got an HD re-release in 2015. Talks of a "Resident Evil 2" Remake started to swirl in 2012 and it was made official in 2015.
Capcom surprised fans with the "Resident Evil 2" Remake announcement through a T-shirt. There hasn't been that much chatter for long after its initial reveal especially that Capcom got all tied up with another new title in the franchise, "Resident Evil 7: Biohazard" released earlier this year.
