Water is an essential element for humanity to survive. That is why experts have suggested a new formula to determine how much water individuals should drink daily.

In the past, most experts would suggest that each person must drink at least eight glasses of water daily. Although nothing much have changed, they added a simple formula to help each person determine how much water he or she should be drinking each day.

The formula introduced resulted from the research made by Mayo Clinic. And the formula for how much water you should be drinking is as follows:

Step 1: Take your weight (in lbs) and divide it by 2.2.

Step 2: Multiply that number by your age.

Step 3: Divide that sum by 28.3.

Step 4: Your total is how many ounces of water you should drink each day. Divide that number by eight to see your result in cups.

Experts have given enough time and effort to determine the formula for how much water should be consumed by individuals. If followed correctly, this will surely help prevent dehydration.

Dehydration occurs when the body does not have as much water as it needs. With the lack of proper hydration, the body cannot function properly, and may even result to a serious medical condition if not resolved immediately.

It is good to note that losing water is a normal occurrence that happens when you sweat, breathe, urinate and even cry. However, what is not normal is when too much water is released, but the intake is not enough to replenish the body.

In some cases, more water than the usual is lost when a person experiences fever, diarrhea, vomiting, and excessive sweating. And for that matter, the more a person should consume water. If symptoms persist, you should immediately ask the help of professionals.
