Blood pressure increases as the weight of the person also increase. That is why weight loss is considered as one of the most effective lifestyle changes for controlling blood pressure, according to Mayo Clinic.
Another tip to complement the previous advice is to exercise regularly. By regular physical activity, at least 30 minute most days of the week, one may lower his or her blood pressure by 4 to 9 millimeters of mercury (mm Hg). If you still have a slightly high blood pressure, exercise can aid in preventing a full-blown hypertension from developing.
Aside from physical activities, it is also highly advised that you reduce sodium intake. By changing your diet a bit and reducing at least small amount of sodium, your blood pressure may drop by at least 2 to 8 mm Hg.
Apart from diet and exercise, another lifestyle change to take note of is your alcohol intake. Too much alcohol will surely increase your blood pressure, which is why it is highly advised to drink moderately.
One of the known reasons why death from hypertension is still prevalent nowadays is because most victims lack the knowledge about the disease. Some of these people who fell victim of high blood pressure did not know that they already have such illness.
Seeing that, knowing the symptoms of high blood pressure would be highly beneficial. A severe headache, fatigue, vision problem, chest pain, difficulty breathing, irregular heartbeat, are some of the many symptoms to watch for, according to WebMD.
