Sony also scheduled a press conference on Feb. 22 with the content of the event still unknown. Thus, rumor-mills went into an overdrive with the speculation that Sony is planning to unveil the Sony Xperia Z6 in this event itself, according to Android Authority.
It is reported that there will be in all, four phones which will be released together in the Z6 line. It is also rumored that a phone called that Xperia Z6 Lite may also be launched this year. It is rumored to come with a 5-inch display screen along with a metallic back cover.
Sony Xperia Z6 Lite will also house a hexa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 650 chipset and will be priced in the $385 range. Rumors also states that a device named the Xperia Z6 Compact Premium will be powered with a Snapdragon 820 processor and Adreno 530 graphics, according to Android Pit. It is also rumored to sport a screen display of 4.7 inches along with 4 GB of RAM.
However, it may also be a possibility that the special Feb event may instead be held to launch the Smart Watch 4. Its predecessor was released way back in 2014, so it is time that the next version comes out.
There are also rumors saying that Sony might also announce a successor to their Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact. The current running model was released back in 2014. Another rumor is that instead of a new flag ship Xperia Z6 smart phone, Sony might be releasing an affordable Xperia Z5 smart phone.
The Xperia Z5 was released just last September. So either Sony is planning to update their smart phones every six months, or an Xperia Z6 release is very unlikely.
In other Sony news, it was recently announced that the Xperia Z5 along with the Sony Xperia Z5 Compact will be released in the United States, finally. The devices will be made available in the US markets in mid-February, 2016.
