Fitbit is poised to bring aesthetics and style within the fitness market with the release of its new smart-tracker - Fitbit Alta.
According to Verge, Alta is designed as a piece of jewelry that could be worn as a bracelet around one's wrists. This activity tracker is equipped to record daily activity levels and shall buzz one to move if one has been sitting for too long. USP of Alta however lies in its smart track feature. It is designed to automatically recognize when one begins to exercise. It can even recognize the form of exercise and record details of this activity in Fitbit's mobile app.

The new Alta is said to be a significant upgrade over Fitbit Blaze released in January, Forbes reported. It sports an OLED screen which displays time and tracked metrics, and Alta can be synced to one's smartphone. After it is paired with one's phone, its screen shall show information on incoming calls, texts, reminders and other alerts.
According to The Verge, Fitbit's Alta has a high likelihood of being commercially successful. This is because Alta is built for everyday wear. Its core tracker is built in silver stainless steel and it can be worn with different leather bands. Thus, it allows an option to accessorize. Furthermore, ultra slim design and aesthetics was incorporated into Alta to make it feel like a piece of jewelry, rather than a hard core utilitarian device. Fitbit's Alta will surely inspire customers to opt for extended use and is definitely a score over earlier trackers by Fit bit.
Alta is priced at $130 (approximately Rs.8800), and it shall be released on March in U.S.A. and April for other countries. According to Forbes, best feature of Alta is its good looks ,and a drawback is that it does not support any third party apps like WhatsApp messages, tweets and so on.
