Apple's first scripted TV series will reportedly feature Beats co-founder and hip hop legend Dr. Dre who will serve as an actor and producer of the television show. The rapper will be the executive producer of a six-episode series. Apple Music will likely distribute the "Vital Signs" TV series due to its being the tech giant's music streaming service.

50-year-old Dr. Dre (Andre Young) and Jimmy Iovine founded Beats Electronics in 2008. The headphone and speaker company was purchased by Apple in 2014 for $3 billion.
It is unclear which Apple platforms would be involved in the TV series. They could include the iTunes store or Apple TV, as well as traditional TV distributors.
The new Apple television show will reportedly be semi-autobiographical, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Each of the episodes would focus on how Dre's character deals with a certain emotion.
In addition, the 30-minute show has been described as a dark drama with lots of sex and violence. One episode filmed recently includes naked extras in a Los Angeles sex scene.
Dr. Dre picked "Empire" co-executive producer Robert Munic to write and executive produce all six episodes. The entire first season of "Vital Signs" will be launched on Netflix.
Apple has been interested in original TV programming for years. It streamed a Taylor Swift concert video and a DJ Khaled radio show, but "Vital Signs" would be its first scripted TV show.
Dr. Dre reportedly thought of the concept for the TV show. He then pitched it directly to business partner Iovine.
Nearly a decade ago Dr. Dre reportedly told Iovine he had been thinking about launching a shoe line. Iovine then told Dre that making speakers would be a better idea, according to Forbes.
After Apple purchased Dre's and Iovine's audio product company it also added Beats Music to Apple Music this year. Their music streaming service was launched in 2014.
Dr. Dre was also the executive producer of the 2015 blockbuster film "Straight Outta Compton," which grossed $200 million worldwide at the box office. It is based on his work with the rap group N.W.A., which was active from 1986 to 1991.
