If rumors are to be believed, MacBook Air 2016 is slated for a launch in March this year.

MacBook Air 2016 release is now rumored to come after the equally purported Mar. 18 launching event.

According to 9to5 Mac, Apple plans to unveil the iPad Air 3 and 4-inch iPhone 5SE. It seems that the MacBook Air 2016 will skip the said event to a much later release date.

One of the probable reasons of the slight delay is due to the fact that MacBook Air 2016 may cannibalize the sales of iPad Air 3. Another possible reason for the delay is release of MacBook Pro 2016 and Apple MacBook 2. According to reports, Apple will release the successor of the 12-inch MacBook first. The MacBook Air and Pro 2016 will reportedly have their own release date.

MacBook Air and Pro 2016 are rumored to retain the sizes of the original, but will be packed with powerful specs and features, including the latest Intel Skylake processors. The laptops will also run with the latest OS X El Capitan.

Rumors alleged that MacBook Air 2016 release date is at Apple's annual Worldwide Developers' Conference (WWDC).  It is most likely that MacBook Air will be released alongside MacBook Pro 2016 and iOS 10.

Meanwhile, some rumors claimed that we may no longer see a MacBook Air this year. MacWorld reported that MacBook Air 2016 will not materialize as the product line will be ceased due to the more powerful successor of 12-inch MacBook and iPad Pro. The publication predicted that the 12-inch MacBook will most likely have a successor as it will celebrate its first birthday in March next year.

Moreover, with the existence of iPad Pro, it seems that MacBook Air lost its market and making a new one will cannibalize other Apple products. However, nothing is set on stone yet.

However, other sources are saying that Apple will discontinue the 12-inch laptop since the public is still clamoring for the MacBook Air 2016.

Until now, there is still no word from Apple regarding the details of the two MacBooks.
