Samsung Gear S2 Classic 3G will become available in the United States in black.
Samsung has announced the exact released date for its stand-alone cellular smartwatch Gear S2 Classic 3G ahead of the annual Mobile World Congress expo, which begins Feb. 22 in Barcelona, Spain.
March 11 will be the official date for the release of Gear S2 Classic 3G and it will become available in the United States in black, GSM Arena reported. The device will be the first smartwatch ever to sport the new eSIM, a built-in and programmable SIM that allows the users to connect to the network of their choice without having to acquire a dedicated SIM card first. They can thus activate the Gear S2 classic at home, being spared a trip to the carrier's closest store.

The Gear S2 classic 3G has a 1.2-inch 360 x 360 circular AMOLED touchscreen, a 1 GHz dual-core processor, 512MB of RAM with 4GB of storage, and a 300 mAh battery. For connection, it has Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, NFC, wireless charging support. It runs the company's Tizen-based wearable platform. The watch is IP68 certified for dust and water resistance, and it comes with a bunch of sensors: accelerometer, gyroscope, heart rate monitor, barometer, and ambient light detection.
It utilizes various functionalities, allowing the consumers to make a call, text, email and receive notifications directly from their watch even without their phone. Aside from the ability to make calls right from their wrist, customers will also get all of the features that come in part and parcel of the Gear S2 such as its unique rotating bezel design.
Samsung also confirmed that the Gear S2 Classic 3G/4G will be available from AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon. While the company did not provide details on pricing and simply stated that carriers will offer this information individually, T-Mobile has already announced that they will be stocking the smartwatch from March 11 with a price tag of $399.99. T-Mobile will also be offering customers the option to pick the smartwatch up for $0 down and with 24 monthly payments of about $16.67, according to Android Headlines.
The South Korean tech giant also announced additional versions of the smartwatch including a 3G Model as well as rose gold and platinum variants.
