Sony has unveiled its new Xperia X series smartphones namely, Xperia X, Xperia X Performance and Xperia XA at the ongoing Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2016 tech event.

Sony Xperia X comes with a metallic chassis in colors like White, Graphite Black, Lime Gold and Rose Gold. It is fitted with a full HD screen of 5-inch. It is powered by Snapdragon 650 which is said to be the most powerful Qualcomm chipset after Snapdragon 820 SoC.

The SoC is supported by 3 GB of RAM. The native storage of the smartphone is 32 GB and it carries support for external storage. It is flanked with external speakers, GSM Arena reported.

It features a 23 MP camera that can photos in 0.6 seconds. It is equipped with Predictive Hybrid Autofocus feature from the Japanese tech company. The selfie shooter present on the smartphone is of 13 MP.  It is packed with a battery of 2620 mAh battery.

The Sony Xperia X Performance is the high-end version of Xperia X. It also features a 5-inch full HD screen. It is powered the most powerful Snapdragon 820 chipset along with 3 GB of RAM. It features the same 23 MP camera and 13 MP selfie camera that is available on the Xperia X smartphone.

The Xperia X Performance is a IP68 certified smartphone which indicates it carries support for water and dust resistance. Both Xperia X and Xperia X Performance feature a fingerprint reader embedded under the power button. It is packed with a larger 2700 mAh capacity battery.

The Sony Xperia XA is a low-priced edition of the Xperia X that comes with midrange specs. It features a 5-inch screen that supports HD resolution. It is powered by Media MT6755 chipset that is coupled with 2 GB of RAM.

It houses a 13 MP camera on its rear side. The front-facing camera of Xperia XA is of 8 MP. The native storage of the handset is of 16 GB and it carries support for microSD card slot. Features like stereo speakers and fingerprint scanner are absent on the Xperia XA. It is loaded with a smaller battery of 2300 mAh capacity.

All the Xperia X series smartphones come preinstalled with Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS.The pricing and availability of the Xperia X, Xperia X Performance and Xperia XA have not been disclosed yet. Sony aims to sell to make the Xperia XA available as a super-midrange smartphone, The Verge reported.
