Snapchat's new special lenses help to celebrate the birthday of the app's users or their friends, following Facebook's 15-second birthday videos. The pair of Birthday Party enses included in the mobile app's latest update for iOS and Android feature one for the celebrant's big day that shares confetti greetings with buddies. Meanwhile, the other lens adds a cake emoji to any b-day greeting people send to pals on their special day.

The first new lens posts the confetti greeting on Snapchat users' timeline. Users must double-tap to add the cake icon to friends' greetings, according to Engadget.

The video messaging app's one-day filter can be added to individual pics or to that particular day's story. One implied use of the confetti greeting is for people to send a friendly reminder to pals about their birthday, according to The Verge.

Snapchat fans should be able to access the new birthday lenses on February 24, Wednesday. However, a more personalized option is another Snapchat feature called custom geofilters.

This is a way mobile app users can add some pizazz to their pictures and videos in certain locations. However, the company then opened up the submissions to include any big or small area.

Now smartphone and tablet owners can create a customized and temporary geofilter for a special event. Brands and businesses can also submit one that includes their official logos.

The first-gen community geofilters were focused on certain areas of a city. However, the paid geofilters are short-term varieties that can be used at a private event.

This allows the geofilters to be used in a more specific area for an exact period of time. The minimum area starts at 20,000 feet (6,096 meters), which is big enough to cover a business location or part of a city block.

Meanwhile, the maximum geofenced size is 5 million square feet (1.5 million square km), which Snapchat says is a big enough area to cover many city blocks.

The filter can live for any amount of time from an hour up to 30 days, which could include a 24-hour period to celebrate a person's birthdate.

Snapchat recently closed its lens store. However, the app continues to add new filters including the $5 geofilters that are ideal for big events such as graduations and weddings.
