Google Project Fi is only available in the U.S. To offer a stable voice and data connection to its users, it relies on the networks of two service providers, Sprint and T-Mobile. Project Fi can automatically switch to between Wi-Fi hotspots and mobile data to provide users with a high speed internet connection. When the cellular data signal becomes weak, it will automatically switch to an available Wi-Fi hotspot for glitch-free connectivity.
Since its launch, Google Project Fi has been available through an invitation. To get an invite, users had sign up for it through their Gmail account and wait patiently for few months for the arrival of an invitation. However, there service can now be acquired without an invitation, the official Google blog stated.
Google Project Fi has a base plan of $20 per month. It provides its subscribers with unlimited voice and SMS. For 1 GB of data, users are required to an additional fee of $10. So, if a user avails 3 GB of data, he will be spending $20 base fee as well as $30 for data every month. If the user does not use all the 3 GB of data but only consumes 2 GB of data, he will be charged $20 and Google will refund $10 for the unused data.
The removal of the invitation system for acquiring Project Fi has also marked the arrival of $150 discount for new Nexus 5X buyers. Project Fi subscribers can avail the LG Nexus 5X smartphone for $199. The smartphone has a regular pricing of $350, Phone Arena reported.
