Radiant Entertainment will stop Rising Thunder's alpha test phase on March 18.
League of Legends’s studio in-charge Riot Games has acquired the developer Radiant Entertainment to create a new game.
Radiant has developed two games, which are the free online fighting game "Rising Thunder" and the town-building simulator "Stonehearth." The company said that the alpha test phase for "Rising Thunder" will cease on March 18 and will begin to work on an untitled game. However, Riot and Radiant vows to continue developing the unfinished "Stonehearth," according to Gamespot.

“As for Rising Thunder, the team will start work on a new game that we’re incredibly excited about. We wish we could say more now, but rest assured you’ll hear more when the time is right. For now, we will be permanently closing Rising Thunder on March 18th. Thanks to everyone who participated in the Alpha!,” Radiant Entertainment said in a blog post.
"Rising Thunder" works to take the core mechanics of a fighting game and layer the gameplay design elements inspired by popular games "League of Legends" and "Dota." It has simplified the combos and special inputs, giving more focus on the strategies than the execution. One of the designers of the game is former Capcom developer Seth Killian, who previously did a job for "Street Fighter IV" and co-founded the EVO Fighting Game tournament. Other two founders of EVO who established Radiant Entertainment are Tony and Tom Canon.
This new acquisition will bring in more talents for Riot Games, which already possessed most played and highest-grossing video games in the world in "League of Legends." The company’s free-to-play online arena battler, which is basically a kind of team-based strategy game, received almost $1 billion in a year from just selling characters and cosmetic items to the dedicate fans. It also leads to a thriving e-sports scene that everybody knows.
In addition, Radiant Entertainment has announced that it doubled the number of active games and there will be a third game, which is already under development, Venture Beat reported.
Riot Games’ headquarter is located in Los Angeles, California. It has game studios in other cities including Burlin, Dublin, Shangai, and Tokyo, among other places. The company was acquired by Chinese company Tencent in December 2015.
