Last year, the rumor mill had revealed information on the Galaxy S6 Mini, but the company has not launched it. The last "Mini" branded phone from the South Korean company was the Galaxy S5 Mini that was launched in 2014.

None of the previously released Mini versions of Galaxy S series phone carry high-end specs like their larger siblings. Rumors are suggesting the Samsung Galaxy S7 Mini will be coming with advanced specs. This will allow Samsung to pit the S7 Mini against the iPhone SE.

Rumors indicate that the Samsung Galaxy S7 Mini will be fueled by Snapdragon 820 or Exynos 8890 chipset like its larger sibling. The chipset will be supported by 4 GB of RAM. Since it is a mini device, the smartphone will be housing a 4.6-inch display that will support a resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels.

It will be coming with a main camera of 12-megapixel and thickness of the smartphone is predicted as 9.9 mm. It may carry support for a periscope lens accessory that will feature 3x optical zoom. The accessory will be sold separately. As of this writing, there is no confirmation from Samsung on the existence of the Galaxy S7 Mini.

Apple has been releasing two smartphones with different screen sizes of 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch since 2014. However, there is still good demand for a 4-inch iPhone like the iPhone 5S. Hence, the company is expected to unleash a 4-inch iPhone SE on March 21.

In terms of the design, the iPhone SE seems to offer the best of iPhone 5S and iPhone 6S. Also, it is expected to borrow some hardware specs from iPhone 6S. The iPhone SE is expected to feature Apple A9 chipset, 1 GB of RAM, NFC, 12-megapixel iSight camera with Live Photos support and more, Phone Arena reported.
