Upgrading to Windows 10 Mobile From Windows Phone 8.1
To install Windows 10 Mobile OTA update on a Windows Phone 8.1 device, users are required to install the 'Upgrade Advisor' app from the Windows Store. This app can be used to confirm whether the Windows 10 Mobile update is available for a particular smartphone.
After launching the app, users are required to select 'Enable Windows 10 upgrade.' The next step will allow users to perform a temporary backup of their files on desired locations such as memory card, OneDrive cloud storage or on a personalized location.
After the backup is done, users need to go to Settings > Phone update and download the Windows 10 Mobile update. Once the update is downloaded, users can install it and restore the backed up files.
