A vending machine is now available in eastern Paris that includes various types of high-quality meat products including sausage, ham, and steak. A meat shop in the French capital that is closed on Sunday and Monday and after 8:00 p.m. invested in a $45,000 refrigerated machine  that includes various types of vacuum-packed meats. The 24/7 machine takes cash or credit cards to provide various types of meat including duck, beef, and pork, which customers could pair with red or white wine, and a fresh baguette.

L'ami Txulette operates the French capital's first meat vending machine, according to Yahoo.  It will help the shop to compete with at least two dozen butcher's shops in the area.

Shop co-owner Florence Pouzol told The Associated Press the store wanted to provide fresh meat for customers when the store was closed for the weekend. It also closes late at 8:00 p.m. but some people cannot get to the meat shop before closing hours.

L'ami Txulette's vending machine includes many types of traditional deli meats and also sirloin steaks. The machine's products cost an average 23 cents (USD) more than the items sold inside the meat shop.

Florence and Michel Pouzol explain that most Paris butcher shops are closed on Sunday. However, they also note that many of their customers are young.

The Pouzols have received positive feedback about the meat vending machine. That includes restaurant and café workers in the area who get off work at 2 a.m., and customers of bars and restaurants along the boulevard.

However, many older customers prefer to buy fresh meats in the physical store, including retired people who have time to browse the fresh meat in the butcher's shop.

France's first meat vending machine was installed in the western town Garat three years ago. It was set up outside a bar.

In related news a man recently took a vending machine hostage when it stopped stocking Cheetos. The person posted a sign on the machine that he would cut the power cable if the Frito-Lay snack was not re-stocked within one week, according to Metro. A photo of the sign was uploaded to Reddit.
