Notable Swiss watch maker H. Moser & Cie recently unveiled its response to the widely popular Apple Watch. Dubbed the Swiss Alp Watch, the mechanical timepiece is almost identical to the flagship Apple smartwatch and it bears a hefty price tag of $24,900.
H. Moser & Cie promotes the Swiss Alp Watch with an alternative twist, considering the current market of digital smartwatches. The company flaunts the banner "Get a life. Upgrade to a mechanical watch."

Unlike the Apple Watch, the Swiss Alp Watch takes pride in its purely mechanical nature. The timepiece does not provide phone and messaging services. In fact, it only provides one thing; time.
H. Moser & Cie also takes pride in the fact that its watch does not need any upgrade, and that it is powered by a simple twist of the clocks non-digital crown. Market analysts consider the pun as subtle marketing strategy.
In a press release acquired by The Verge, H. Moser chief executive Edouard Meylan describes the Alp Watch as, "[It] does not allow you to make calls, or send messages to share the latest gossip; it does not give you the option to send beautiful sketches. It does much more than that: it lets you reconnect to what matters in life: It takes you back to sharing emotions with your nearest and dearest without a filter, interface or embellishment."
A quick look at the Swiss Alp Watch, one can tell that it looks almost entirely the same with the Apple Watch.
The Swiss clockmaker said that only 50 Swiss Alp Watch will hit the market. Analysts explain that the limited number of available units can create a sense of exclusivity to it, thus the extremely high price mark.
The Swiss Alp Watch is made of 18 carat white gold trimmed with sapphire crystals. Despite its massive price tag, only one model is available and it has a hand-stitched beige colored kudu leather strap.
H. Moser & Cie is the latest clockmaker to have its take against Apple Watch. Prominent traditional clockmaker TAG Heuer debuted its TAG Heuer Connected smartwatch in November 2015 and it runs on Google Android Wear, according to Time.
