Sony Xperia Z3, Z3 Compact and Z2 users will receive Android 6.0.1, the beta version of the latest mobile software Android Marshmallow.
Android 6.0.1 is the Beta version of the highly anticipated Android 6.0 Marshmallow mobile software. According to recent announcements from Japan's tech giant Sony, Xperia Z3, Z3 Compact and Z2 users will receive Android 6.0.1, the beta version of the latest mobile software Android Marshmallow. Although the latest flagships of Sony Xperia are using Android 6.0 Marshmallow, the beta tests for older Xperia series is reportedly for certain countries only. Initially, beta tests are limited to Spain, Netherlands and Italy.

Since the update is already running and has reached other devices for beta testing, other countries like Germany, Sweden, Ireland, Denmark, UK, Finland, Lithuania, Iceland, Estonia and Latvia have joined the tests as well. Android 6.0.1 or the pre-release version of the software is said to be exclusively accessible to Xperia beta program aficionados.
Android 6.0.1 or the pre-released software is the exact replica of what is being used by latest mobile devices nowadays. However, this beta version uses the December 2015 patch up unlike the Android 6.0 Marshmallow version which uses patch up from February 2016. Content-wise, Android 6.0.1 is using the same features and specs that Android Marshmallow is officially using.
The reason behind Sony's comprehensive roll out is that there are several other Xperia series, some older units, are compatible with receiving the latest Android mobile software, initially called as Android M, or now called as Android Marshmallow, according to IBT.
In the event that beta tests ran smoothly and successfully for Sony Xperia Z3, Z2 and Z3 Compact, it wouldn't be surprising if all these mobile devices will be able to receive Android 6.0 Marshmallow version. If all goes well in these experiments then all of these devices owners can enjoy and take advantage of the latest innovation of Android. Features like Camera 2.0.0 interface which is normally available on Z5 devices only can be used by Z3 and Z2 users as well. The advantage of having this type of camera version is that users can effortlessly switch between manual or video modes as well as real-time brightness feature.
Tech Times said that this beta testing move by Sony is somewhat creating a survey if there could possibly be bugs to be fixed. It may be easy for the Sony developers to detect and correct for a more comfortable use of the software and the device.
