Google Cardboard headsets are being offered by Pornhub to promote its new virtual reality (VR) channel. The adult entertainment site is offering 10,000 free VR devices to enjoy skin flicks in the site's new section. Pornhub is teaming up with adult movie-maker BaDoinkVR and claims it is the first website to offer 360-degree XXX films.

Corey Price is vice president of Pornhub. He shared in a press release the new VR movie section will help visitors get excited and enjoy their wildest fantasies, according to CNET.

Meanwhile, BaDoinkVR CEO Todd Glider shares that the trailers on Pornhub's new site will link to his company's website. The goal is to encourage Pornhub users to sign up to BaDoinkVR and watch all of its 360-degree pornographic videos.

Some VR games and movies are already available, while headset owners can also watch presidential debates and sports events. However, the problem is that the content is often unclear or has long load times.

Pornhub hopes its VR channel will be game-changer in the adult entertainment industry. Porn is a big market in the United States. A University of Texas study learned that 46 percent of men as well as 16 percent of women between the ages of 18 and 39 watch porn on a weekly basis.   

The new channel offers 27 VR videos that provide a 360-degree view. This new format could have the same effect on the XXX industry as VHS players during the 1980s and cable TV during the 1990s.

Pornhub is launching its new VR channel at a time when the world of virtual reality is trying to expand its market. A recent Horizon Media survey discovered that two-thirds of US consumers do not know that VR headsets exist.  

Following Google Cardboard and Samsung's Gear VR, new headsets to hit the market this year include Facebook's Oculus Rift, Sony's PlayStation VR, and HTC Vive. However, a big problem is that the amount of content for the smart glasses is very limited.    

Pornhub was founded in 2007 and has 60 million daily visitors. Alexa's online traffic estimates show that Pornhub.com is the 65th most visited website on the Internet, according to Fortune. It has been featured in various Hollywood movies including the comedy "Sex Tape."
