The Samsung Galaxy TabPro S takes the namesake of the South Korean tech giant's Android line of devices, despite the fact that it runs on Windows 10 operating system. The latest device from Samsung is widely regarded a powerful workmate that makes it a legitimate threat to Surface Pro tablet.

When Microsoft released the Surface Pro, the tablet was immediately praised for its perfect combination of high-end specs and portability. The Surface Pro, when it was released, has the best hardware specs, best display and unparalleled performance. This led many analysts to ask whether Samsung, with its Galaxy TabPro S, can match what Microsoft did with the Surface Pro.

The Galaxy TabPro S sports a 12-inch Super AMOLED display. It supports 2160 x 1440 resolution which, although not a 4K Ultra HD grade, is impressive. While the Microsoft Surface Pro sports a stunning 2736 x 1824 resolution, the Super AMOLED display of the Galaxy TabPro S renders a remarkable image quality which easily beats that of the Surface Pro.

According to CNet, at the heart of the Samsung Galaxy TabPro S is a sixth-generation Intel Core M3 processor clocked at 2.2GHz. The tablet has 4GB of internal memory and 128GB SATA SSD for storage. These specs might appear low-end when compared to the Core i5 and Core i7 models of the Surface Pro. However, these massive specs variance are barely noticeable when the two devices are pitted against each other.

The Samsung TabPro S is not perfect. Tech reviewers and analysts pointed out the disappointing lack of ports of the tablet. The TabPro S only has a single reversible USB Type-C port which handles both charging and data transfer, according to PC World.

The transfer speed of the Galaxy TabPro S is quite amazing at 10Gbps, thanks to the USB 3.1 support. However, it is unfortunate that users cannot charge the device and transfer data at the same time. An alternative to this requires users to purchase a port dongle.

In terms of the price point, the Samsung TabPro, including the keyboard, costs $899. In terms of comparison, a Surface Pro with similar specs and a keyboard will cost around $1,029.
