In February 2016, Rajeev Suri, the CEO of the Finland based company had stated that Nokia is not in hurry to release new phones. However, a leaked render of Nokia A1 suggests that the midrange smartphone may release soon.
The leaked render of the purported midranger suggests that it sports a unique user interface and it does not run on the stock edition of Android. It appears that the smartphone will be running its own Z Launcher. It is the same launcher that is available on the Nokia N1 tablet that was released in 2014.
The Nokia N1 tablet features Android 5.0 Lollipop that is modified with Z Launcher user interface. The Nokia A1 smartphone is expected to preinstalled with Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS and its UI will be customized with Z Launcher.
The Nokia A1 will be a phablet device that will feature a 5.5-inch screen that will carry a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. It will be driven by Qualcomm Snapdragon 652 chipset. It features quad cores of Cortex A73 and quad cores of Cortex A53 along with Adreno 510 GPU. It the same SoC that drives some of the newest and unreleased smartphones such as LG G5 Lite, Samsung Galaxy A9 and A9 Pro, International Business Times reported.
Since it is a midrange device, it will be coming with polycarbonate chassis. The rear side of Nokia A1 features a large camera along with a single LED flash. It also features a rear-facing speaker.
Nokia N1 from 2014 received good reception from the audience as well as critics. At start, it was only launched in China. The initial sales report revealed that the Finnish company managed to sell 20,000 of Nokia N1 units in only 4 minutes.
The Nokia N1 tablet was later released in other markets like European countries and Taiwan. So, rumors are suggesting that the company may release the Nokia A1 first in Chinese markets and later on it will arrive in other markets.
