The Spectre 13 is the latest ultrabook from HP's premium Spectre line.
HP Spectre 13, the company's newest laptop, has just been unveiled on April 5, Tuesday as the world's thinnest laptop. At only 10.4 mm, the 13.3-inch laptop beats the two thinnest laptops on record, the MacBook Air at 13.2 mm and Dell XPS 13 at 15.2 mm.
On top of HP Spectre 13's thin body, it is powered by Core i5 and Core i7 processors, while its competitors have gone for the Core M line. While it is the thinnest to date, it is however not the most lightweight laptop.

HP Spectre 13 weight of 1.11 kg, the just launched laptop is heavier than the 0.92 kg MacBook Air. However, it is packed with 8 GB of RAM, Bang & Olufsen sounds and almost 10 hours battery life. The laptop is reportedly as simple as it gets; no touchscreen, no detachable keyboard, and no swivelling screen. Its resolution did not go higher than 1080p resolution, even.
HP Vice President of Product Management Mike Nash answered The Verge when he was asked how long it would stay the thinnest. According to him, "I dunno. I think you probably could build thinner but it would get very, very hot. Maybe you could nail thinner but you wouldn't get the battery life."
The newest HP laptop has aluminium build with carbon fiber bottom and copper accents. The HP logo has been redesigned to become a more angular logo, in contrast with the circle logo HP has been using. The HP Spectre 13 was inspired by women's jewelry and purses, Engadget reported.
Two special editions of the HP Spectre 13 were also announced during the conference. One featured a midnight blue color with floral swirls, Swarovski crystals, and 18 karat gold accents by designer Tord Boontje. LA based designer Jess Hannah's, on the other hand, featured an 18 karat gold coated laptop with calligraphic keyboard font and a diamond encrusted HP logo. Both laptops will be auctioned with proceeds going to the Nelson Mandela Foundation.
The HP Spectre 13 will be available for preorders starting April 25 with shipment starting in May. Pricing starts at $1,170.
HP Spectre 13 was launched at the New York Times Luxury Conference in Versailles, France. It will be available in Best Buy on May 22, starting at $1,250. Watch the video below for the laptop's review:
