In a statement acquired by Engadget, Hulu senior vice president Tim Connolly said, "We are thrilled that Optimum customers can now access Hulu's content library without having to leave their cable TV environment."

Hulu and Cablevision first announced that they are working together for an exclusive cable channel in May 2015. Hulu's integration to cable TV means that it will face notable competitors such as Cinemax, Starz, Showtime and HBO.

While Hulu's latest move might incite excitement for some, some market analysts think that it might not be a practical move. It is important to remember that most networks that streams they shows on Hulu, like ABC, Fox and NBC, also offer full episodes of those shows through their respective apps. ABC has the Watch ABC app, Fox has its own Fox Now app while NBC has its own app as well. The three mentions apps are all available on tablets, smartphones, desktop computers and connected TV devices.

Some market analysts agree that Hulu's decision to integrate its service into Optimum TV will play a major role in the company's expansion plans. By integrating its service into cable boxes, Hulu is opening a huge potential market, the same market that Netflix is trying to pursue.

Recent reports claim that cable TV is facing a downward slope as subscription continues to dwindle. Analysts said that these drop in subscriptions can be traced to the growing interest of the market with digital streaming. As cable companies are slowly embracing the shift into digital media, streaming services are also trying to grab a piece of the market by integrating their brands into traditional cable services.

In order to further broaden its service and offer more original programming, Hulu recently invested in shows like "The Path" and "11.22.63." Hulu is also making tactical moves in order to shift its services towards next-day TV shows, according to Engadget.
