WhatsApp is the most widely used messenger, and for majority of people, it is the default go-to messenger. WhatsApp handles more than 30 million messages daily across all mobile platforms. Good thing is that the new upgrade in the messenger features an end-to-end encryption.

It is now fairly easy to add formatting to the plain text messages. WhatsApp enables the users to add bold, italicized and strikethrough formatting options. By simply adding asterisks to either side of the text (*bold*), the message letters can be made bold, same way for Italics,  just add underscores to either side of the text (_italics_) and for strikethrough, add tildes either side of the text (~tilde~).

WhatsApp, by default, allows everyone to know the last seen time stamp, profile photo and status message. It can be easily toggled between 3 options: Everyone, My contacts and Nobody. These options are available in Settings > Account > Privacy. These privacy settings are available on both iPhone and Android.

Similar to last seen time stamp, the read receipts is shown to others by WhatsApp default settings. The read receipts which are notified by Blue Ticks can be disabled easily. For turning it off, head to the Settings > Account > Privacy and toggle the Read Receipts. If you are turning the option off then it also means that even you will not be able to see read receipts from other people as well.

For Android users, to restore backup, head to the Settings > Chats > Chat Backup and poke on Back Up. For iOS, head to the Settings >Chats > Chat Backup and tap Back up Now.

To know about your maximum conversations; go to Settings > Account > Storage Usage and you will find the total number of messages and list will be received.

For WhatsApp users, to message via other devices; just head to web.whatsapp.com and scan the QR code which is built into WhatsApp for iOS and Android.

Get rid of those annoying group chats by simply tapping the name of the chat and then on Mute option. One can select the duration of the mute as well.
