The "Grand Theft Auto" video game franchise is highly regarded as one of the most successful series in history of video games. With the release of "Grand Theft Auto 5," the series' developer, Rockstar Games, have cemented its name in the pillars of video game history.
"Grand Theft Auto 5" was released back in 2013, and since then rumors about a sequel is already circulating in the gaming community. For three years, Rockstar Games had maintained a quite stand regarding the development status of "Grand Theft Auto 6."

Lately, fans of the video game series have been speculating about the status of the franchise. The most dominant discussion is about the setting of the upcoming game. Several indications point to a possible change of location with Japan being the most favorite by fans.
The plotline of the "Grand Theft Auto" franchise is well known for its references to violence and organized crime. This leads to many speculators to conclude that the story of "Grand Theft Auto" in Japan will blend well with the story of the notorious Yakuza group.
According to Tech Radar, Rockstar Games had already considered picking Japan to be the setting of a "Grand Theft Auto" game. This was several years ago during the "Grand Theft Auto: Vice City" era. However, reports claim that Rockstar pulled the plug off of the project due to problems encountered especially with Japan's problematic road system which will not sync well with the game's mechanics.
Several unnamed sources claiming that they have insider information reveal that Rockstar had already started working on "Grand Theft Auto 6." Preliminary designs and development efforts had already started while the exact location or setting of the game has not yet been finalized.
Some analysts agree that "Grand Theft Auto 6" will not feature an overseas setting, although some rumors claim that it might be a between Bogota and Las Vegas. With the proliferation of the virtual reality platform, there are speculations in the gaming community that Rockstar might end up releasing "Grand Theft Auto 67" in virtual reality, according to Neurogadget.
Many tech analysts agree that although all these rumors are interesting, they might be taken with a grain of salt until Rockstar make an official announcement.
