Google has released Android N Developer Preview 2 for compatible Nexus devices.
Android N is the upcoming mobile OS from Google that will be launched to replace the Android Marshmallow OS. The search engine giant had released the first Android N Developer Preview in March. This surprised the Android fans as it was expected to announce it during the May event for Google I/O 2016, GSM Arena reported.

Soon after releasing the first Android N Developer Preview, a new update was made available to fix issues associated with the first preview build. Google is expected to release first preview editions of Android N before releasing the final version of Android N in July. Now, it has released the Android N Developer Preview 2 that brings along fixes for bugs as well as slew of new features.
One of the issues that arrived with the first preview build was that users faced issues while connecting to hidden Wi-Fi networks. This issue has been resolved in the second preview build. Also, the issues associated with Multi-window feature have been also fixed in Android N Developer Preview 2. The enhanced Multi-window system gives power to the user to modify the height and width of apps, Phone Arena reported.
The new 3D rendering Vulkan API makes it possible for 3D app developers to directly access the GPU. Hence, Android N powered devices will be able to supports apps that offer heavy graphics. The Vulkan 3D API can enhance the performance of graphics by ten-fold as compared to OpenGL ES.
The Android N Developer Preview 2 enables customized app shortcuts in the launcher. For example, apps for instant messaging will display shortcuts for creating messages for most frequently used contacts and in apps for mapping, it can a shortcut for navigating to home. The second preview build also includes new emoji with human characters.
The Android N Developer Preview 2 is now available for Nexus 5X, Nexus 6P, Nexus 6, Nexus 9 and Pixel C. In the forthcoming days, the update will also arrive for Nexus Player.
In order to try the Android N on any of the aforementioned devices, users will have to first enroll for Android beta program. The registered users will receive forthcoming builds as OTA updates. However, those who want to manually flash the Android N preview build should be aware of the fact that such devices will not be able to receive the OTA updates.
