Two benches in Wales, United Kingdom that face a busy street instead of providing a seaside view have received the moniker "selfie benches." The pair of seats are located in Porthcawl, and the town's council has promised to turn one back in the right direction due to public opinion. However, the Bridgend Tourism Association has decided to turn one of the long seats into a place for taking selfies.

One reason the council decided to create a selfie bench is that other nearby seats are already facing the sea, according to BBC. Association tourism director Hugh Murray shared that taking a selfie on the special bench creates a great background because of the beautiful coastline.

He also admitted that the road-facing benches have helped to make Porthcawl a famous town. However, the backwards-facing seats give visitors a view of a vehicles and hotels instead of the coast of Devon and Somerset.

The council explains that a local group supported the seats facing the busy road.  However, due to public option the council will turn around one of the benches so visitors can choose whether they want to view the road or sea.

Porthcawl's mayor told ITV that he likes the uniqueness of the backward-facing bench. He thinks the idea of a "selfie bench" is a great marketing move.

In related news, a Massachusetts man has been arrested by police for reportedly taking a selfie while he was driving a rented Mustang car on April 15, Friday, according to WCVB. A police officer filed a report that the yellow Ford car was driving all over the road at about 8:40 a.m.

Officer Chris Burrell noted in the report that the driver was holding a cellphone above the convertible's windshield and seemed to be taking a video while he was driving.

Burrell then walked onto the road to try and stop 20-year-old Abdulrahman Jawad. However, the distracted driver almost hit the officer as he swerved around him.

Jawad was charged with failing to stop for police, operating a mobile phone while driving, and not driving in marked lanes. However, he claimed he was did not realize he had to stop for a motorcycle. Judge Jennifer Stark dismissed the case.

This could be the world's first elephant selfie:
