Smarttress Smart Mattress
A web-connected smart mattress that includes a Lover Detection System with Wi-Fi wireless connectivity to catch cheating partners has been developed by a Spanish company. Its Wi-Fi-connected "Smarttress" buzzes smartphones when the layer of padding detects that a spouse or lover is being unfaithful.

The mattress includes 24 ultra-sonic sensors in its springs, according to Engadget. When the smart mattress' "action" shows that the bed is being used for hanky-panky it sends a mobile alert to the mattress' owner.
A promotional video shows that the app can also provide different types of analytics. They include a speedometer and intensity/impact metrics as a sort of fitness tracker for cheaters.
The Smarttress is not the first device used to detect cheating spouses or convert a person's sex life to numbers. However, it could be the first one that does not provide partners with a heads-up when it is online.
An ad for the Smarttress claims that the smart mattress will be faithful even if the owner's partner is not, according to Re/code. The target market of the $1,750 mattress is everyday people who have trust issues with their partners.
Early responses to the new mattress have been skeptical. Some people argued that it was a stupid invention, while others noted that it would be cheaper to install a security camera in the bedroom.
Others commenters doubted that it was a real product. However, the promotion video of the Smarttress was featured at a public event held in Madrid, Spain this week.
Durmet spokesperson Antonio Muiño shared that the company is real and has been producing sleep-related products since 2012. The company reportedly has 10 employees who make about 70 mattresses per day.
Muiño explains that the smart mattresses are still in the manufacturing process and they have received many requests from interested buyers.
In related news, a London designer has invented the world's first app-controlled smart bed. The futuristic bed has a massage function and snoring system to detect when breathing patterns change. It can also wake up sleepers when the furniture senses that someone is having a nightmare, by picking up changes such as core body temperature.
