Apple Watch
Apple announced recently that all Apple Watch apps submitted by developers to the App Store must be native apps starting on June 1, 2016. The Watch apps must be built with watchOS 2 software development kit (SDK) or a later version. Since watchOS 2 was launched Apple has supported native apps instead of relying on iPhone handsets to run Apple Watch. Smart watch apps built to run on Apple Watch allow the software to open faster and run smoother.

The tech giant launched version 2.0 of WatchOS half a year ago, according to Mac Rumors. It has also provided developers with a full set of features including microphone/speaker, vibration, heart rate sensor, and accelerometers. It has also provided third-party tools to give users quick app information directly from their smartwatch faces.
Apple's rule might be a move to cajole developers to start using the new tools to make more powerful software. In fact, it could even result in a stand-alone Watch App Store to make it easier to find apps for Apple's wrist wearable.
It is not clear how the new rule will affect "old" apps but it is likely that they will function as usual, according to Cult of Mac. However, the new apps might work without a wireless link to an iPhone.
The June 1 deadline for native apps is a few weeks before Apple's Worldwide Developers Conference. It is expected to unveil new versions of operating systems including iOS, watchOS, OS X, and tvOS.
