The Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) can be played with a PlayStation 4 or Wii U controller thanks to a wireless adapter from Analogue. The adapter allows any Bluetooth-enabled controller to work on the 8-bit game console. Analogue has teamed up with accessories company 8bitdo to build the Retro Receiver that plugs into the original NES system.

The new wireless adapter works with all current-gen video game controllers including PlayStation Dualshock 4, and Nintendo's Wii U Pro Controller, according to IGN.

In addition, the Retro Receiver should also function on hardware emulators since it works with any Nintendo-compatible system that includes the same controller port.

It is important to note that the adapter does not work on original NES controllers. However, all wireless controllers manufactured by 8Bitdo works on the classic console and games. It also works with most wireless controllers built for PS3, PS4, Wii, and Wii U.

Analogue's Retro Receiver has a price tag of about $20 through online retailer PlayAsia. The NES adapter package includes a receiver and USB cable.

Nintendo's 8-bit NES console was launched in North America in 1985. It was a long time before Bluetooth and Wi-Fi controllers were available, and the company's first wireless controller was offered for the GameCube console released in 2001, according to Gizmodo.

In related news, Sega is releasing several retro Mega Drive/Genesis games that are available online for free. Gamers can enjoy the classic games by getting the latest Steam update for PCs.

The online hub will launch on April 28, Thursday and allows gamers to reminiscence by playing old-school 16-bit games.

The hub looks like a kids bedroom during the early 1990s and includes video game posters on the wall, a shelf full of Sega Genesis games, and a CRT TV.

Sega reports that anyone who buys a Mega Drive on Steam can enjoy the new classic game hub for free. They just have to update their games on Steam to get full access.

The Sega Mega Drive hub includes several features. They include local co-op, saving at any point, graphic enhancement filters, and full controller and keyboard support.
