Apple Watch's Bentley App
An Apple Watch app is now available for the Bentley Bentayga SUV that lets drivers use the wrist wearable for controlling various in-car systems. The Apple Store app controls the luxury car's climate/entertainment systems, adjusts the heating/ventilation of seats, and monitors real-time data including vehicle speed and distance traveled.

This new app for the British luxury car maker also includes other information such as temperature outside the car. Other controls including switching on the seat massagers, and changing the driver seat's reclining angle.
The Apple Watch app also lets people riding in a Bentayga adjust the seats, temperature, and music. Wearable owners can also use Bluetooth wireless connectivity to sync their Apple smartwatch with the luxury vehicle's Touch Screen Remote (TSR) system.
Apple Watch owners can also use the wearable software to control various functions of the digital TV system. They include adjusting the volume/ playback controls, and media sources, according to Mac Rumors.
The Bentley Bentayga has a sky-high price tag of about $230,000. It already includes several high-tech features including built-in navigation, 4G Wi-Fi hotspot, myriad of USB ports, 8-inch touchscreen, and tablets in rear headrests.
Dan Whittaker is Bentley's Director of Electrical and Electronics. He said in a statement the Apple Watch connectivity is part of the company's goal of improving customers' driving experience.
Other major car brands have also launched wearables devices. Ford's smart watch app lets owners use the wrist wearable to unlock their cars, while Tesla's Autopilot feature uses a wearable gadget to summon their electric car.
The Bentayga TSR app is available as a free download on the App Store and works with iPhone and iPad devices.
In related news, a new report from Motherboard shares that the car icons on Uber maps could be ghost taxis, according to Digital Times. The little pictures that supposedly show Uber drivers in the area could be a method to get shoppers to call an Uber instead of another ride-sharing company.
Motherboard talked with an Uber driver who noticed that the company's mobile app showed drivers near her home although the closest one was almost 20 minutes away. An Uber representative noted that the car icons are only a "visual effect."
