Google has updated its Photos app for iOS, making it possible for users to convert Live Photos format into looping movies or videos. The update also makes it easier for the users to share their videos through YouTube.

Google Photos 2.0 features the same technology which was used for the Motion Stills app. The technology, which supports enhanced stabilization and rendering, allows for the freezing of background in Live Photos. Live Photos can also be turned GIFs or into cinematic pans. According to BGR, the update allows for sharing of the content with people who do not have iPhones. The content can easily be uploaded to YouTube.

The latest version of the app lets users sort the photos in their albums. TechCrunch reported that the sorting function might be carried out on chronological basis or based on their upload date. Conceding to a popular request from the app users, Google now offers users the ability to pick their thumbnails in the People section.

The improvements in the app are based on the expertise that the company gained from Motion Stills.

The updated app is available on the App Store. Google is likely to introduce the reach of updated version of the app on its Play Store in the coming future.
