Nexus
Google has announced that all Nexus devices would now run a data-saving feature which used to be limited to its Fi Network only. The feature would be for devices not on the Fi Network, the Google WiFi Assistant. The feature is like the Window 10 WiFi Sense and would be available for Nexus 6P, Nexus 6, Nexus 5X, and Nexus 5 users.

According to Google, the Nexus 6P and other Nexus devices, which were not using Project Fi, can now save cellular data using the WiFi Assistant. According to iTech Post, the feature allows devices to automatically scan WiFi hotspots and connect users to the best option available. It uses a VPN, so users are highly protected and do not need to worry about privacy and security.
Google has assured users that it would not record or view content sent over VPN. Google Nexus devices running on Android 5.1 Lollipop or above would have the WiFi Assistant feature. However, Nexus 4 users can also use the WiFi Assistant by going to Settings and tapping Configure on WiFi. There is an option to "Use open WiFi automatically."
In other news, Google has launched the Project Zero Security Contest inviting hackers to hack the Nexus 5X and 6P. The company would award over $300,000 in prizes to hackers who can crack into the devices with only an email address and phone number at hand. Participants are required to look for vulnerabilities which can be remotely exploited by sending an email or SMS.
