Logitech, the maker of computer gaming peripherals such as the Logitech G series of mice and keyboards, has acquired Saitek, the renowned maker of specially designed simulation game controllers. This should give both Logitech loyalists and simulation game enthusiasts something to be excited about.

"We just acquired the Saitek brand and the Saitek line of flight, farm and space simulation game controllers," Logitech wrote on its blog, adding that Saitek is the brand that fans of spacefaring and farming simulator games choose.

Saitek, which is famous for 2008's X-52 and 2014's X-55 controllers, has a wide range of peripherals specially designed for simulation games. Its range of controllers and peripherals include space-age joysticks, instrument panels, flight yokes, and even farm simulator controllers. Logitech is working on integrating Saitek's line into its roster of peripherals.

Logitech says that since it already produces steering wheels for the driving simulation category, the acquisition of Saitek will enable the company to provide players with a complete repertoire of peripherals for fans of simulation games.

Logitech promises that the simulation game experience it delivers through its their will get better.

"We care about this space and want to do right by its fans," Logitech explained. "We have a vision that will take these products further, faster."

Engadget reported that Logitech paid a hefty $13 million to acquire Saitek from Mad Catz. Mad Catz purchased the company for $30 million in 2007.
