Beats headphones are sold in an Apple store in New York City.
Apple's new flagship, the iPhone 7, has ditched the standard headphone jack in favor of using wireless headphones. Apple-owned Beats, however, has not followed suit - and has released a new entry-level headphone that is promising.
When Apple launched the new iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus without the standard headphone jack, Beats announced that it jas four new models: The Solo3 Wireless (the most expensive at $299), the Powerbeats3 Wireless (priced at $200), the Beats X (priced at $150), and the 3.5mm-jacked Beats Ep (the cheapest at $129).

CNET notes that both the Solo3 Wireless and Powerbeats3 Wireless headphones are updates to wireless models released earlier. The neckband-style Beats X and the jacked Beats Ep, however, are new entries.
Unlike the wireless models, the Beats Ep depends on the device powering it. The Apple Store boasts of its "battery-free design" that allows for "unlimited playback," considering that wireless headphones need to be charged before they can be used.
Nevertheless, the Beats Ep (and any other jacked headphone) still require a lightning-to-3.5mm headphone jack adapter before it can be used on the iPhone 7.
No Beats Studio Wireless this year
One model that Beats did not mention as having a new model during the announcement is the famous Studio Wireless headphones. A person familiar with the company's plans told CNET that the reason for this is pretty simple: battery improvements.
The source said that Beats has been unable to give the Studio Wireless a substantial battery upgrade that will make it distinguishable from the current model, which has been on the market for more than two years. Unlike the Solo3 Wireless which got a major boost - up to three times the battery life the Solo2 - the Studio Wireless would not be getting a huge battery advantage although it is equipped with Apple's new low-energy W1 Bluetooth chip.
