Stephen Hawkings has once again warned that it may not be a good idea to seek to make contact with aliens.
Renowned physicist Stephen Hawking says that when it comes to making contact with intelligent life forms, humans should be "wary."
Hawkings warned that the first contact with an advanced civilization might be comparable to the situation when Native Americans first encountered European colonizers and things "didn't turn out so well."

Hawking's commentary is derived from his new film that is only available online called "Stephen Hawking's Favorite Places." In the film, he transports viewers into his SS Hawking spacecraft to different locations in the universe.
Hawking explained that growing old has made him more convinced that humans are not alone. He added that after a lifetime of wondering, he is part of a global effort to search for alien life. This global effort is none other than The Breakthrough Listen project, which will scan the nearest star systems for signs of life, especially exoplanets like Gliese 832 c. He noted that humans should be careful in sending a message to these aliens if indeed intelligent life is found.
This is not the first time that Hawking has warned about the potential for alien hostility. Upon launching the Breakthrough Listen project which aims to scan the nearest million stars for life last year, he suggested that any advanced civilization out there can read our messages is probably millions of years ahead of us. This would mean that they are vastly more powerful and may not see any value in human life apart from being bacteria, Hawking explained.
Hawking's new film is 25 minutes long and can be viewed on CuriosityStream. The film begins with the Big Bang. Viewers are taken deep inside a supermassive black hole as Hawking explains his theory of matter.
Hawking concludes the documentary by explaining that his goal is to explore the universe.
